Robert Cox Lanier II Germantown, TN Robert Cox "Buddy" Lanier II entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 7, 2017. Born April 5, 1949 to Robert and Patricia Lanier. "Buddy" was a native of Germantown and was a 12 year student in the Germantown Schools, graduating in 1967. While in high school he played football, basketball, and baseball starting all four years in all sports. During his junior year at Mississippi State University, he joined the Marine Corps Reserves Air wing and was trained as an air control man. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1971 with a business degree and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. His business career started in the banking industry, before going into private business in Birmingham and Memphis. Buddy served on the Board of Directors at SRVS and on the SRVS capital campaign committee from 2008-2011. He and his wife Lanetta were members of The Grand Krewe of Luxor where he was Chairman and King. He joined the Grand Krewe of RaMet where he served as General Chairman for the last 2 years. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Moriarty Lanier. He is survived by his wife, Lanetta Lanier and his father Robert C. Lanier. He also leaves behind three daughters Lanea Head (Jeremy), Lauren Porter (Joey), Audrey Gilden (Corey); one son Johnathon Johnston, and seven grandchildren Bailey, Mackenzie, Madison, Gadge, Jayden, Kadence, and Kylen. The family will hold a service Wednesday, January 11 at 1 p.m. at Germantown Presbyterian Church, 2363 Germantown Road South, Germantown, TN with a reception directly following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Germantown Presbyterian Church.
