KELLY, Robert Edward 89 of Harwich, MA and Palm Beach, FL, on October 12, 2016. Born in Medford, MA on June 2, 1927. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann M. (Mercurio) Kelly for 63 years and the son of the late Catharine Rose and John M. Kelly. Robert graduated from Newman Preparatory School in Boston, and attended St. Anselm College in New Hampshire. During World War II, he served proudly as a Seaman, First Class in the Navy aboard the USS Belleau Wood CVL-24. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with five battle stars, the American Theater Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation and the World War II Victory Medal. In 1955, Robert moved to Cape Cod and, with his father and brother, started Kelly Incorporated, a real estate development firm. The family business went on to develop many residential and commercial real estate properties on Cape Cod. He was a life-long member of the Everett Lodge of Elks and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, and a long-time member of the Harwich Republican Town Committee and the Irish American Club of Cape Cod. Robert was also a parishioner of Our Lady of the Cape Parish in Brewster, a member of the Men's Club of the church and a parishioner of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Palm Beach, FL. Robert is survived by his children John and Barbara Kelly of Harwich and Kristen Kelly Fisher and John Malena of Palm Beach and New York. He was the loving grandfather of Lauren, John and Ryan Kelly and Phub Dorji, all of whom he was incredibly proud. Robert was the devoted brother of Madalyn T. Kelly of South Yarmouth, MA, Judy and the late John Kelly of Dennis Port, MA and the late Monica and Lawrence Aylward, formerly of Everett, MA. He was the brother-in-law of Claire and the late Vincent DeStefano of Salem, MA and Patricia and the late Alfred Mercurio of Reading, MA. He had many cousins, nieces and nephews and considered his dear friends of all ages family. Visiting hours will be held at the Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main Street, HARWICH CENTER, MA on Friday, October 21st, from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA Saturday, October 22 at 11 am. Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Harwich.
