Robert Louis Henry Sr.
ROBERT LOUIS HENRY SR. Robert Louis Henry Sr. was born on November 20, 1922 in Sylvania, GA. He was the second of 11 children born to the late John Patrick and Maggie Henry. Robert was educated in the Sylvania Public School system until his abduction into the US Army, during WWII. Upon his discharge from the military in 1946 his family relocated to Savanna, GA. He was introduced to Myrtle Davidson by one of his sister's. Robert and Myrtle grew in love and decided to unite their lives in marriage on October 25, 1947. To this union three children were born, Robert Jr., Wanda and Vernon. At home he was a dedicated family man; he was a craftsman, a mechanic and an excellent repair man. His hobby was rail roading. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and he loved listening to gospel music which featured the guitar. Robert was known for his laughter and humor. He was employed by the Los Angeles City School District as a custodian for twenty years, retiring in 1988. His wife of 44 years died in 1991. Shortly after her death Robert was reintroduced to Ida Henry, a former church member. They both being windowed grew to love each other and decided to unite in marriage in June of 1992. On October 7, 2016 he fell asleep in Jesus to await the call of the life giver. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 24 years Ida, his sons Robert Jr. (Doreen), Vernon (Claudia) and his daughter Wanda; one brother Birdell, three stepsons Willie, Jerold and Steven; three grandchildren Robert III, Denise and her two children Evelyn, Justin and Elizabeth; two great -grandchildren Alexandria and Jeremy with a host of relatives who love him dearly. A funeral service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 4 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oroville, CA.
