Robert J. Grubb 'Overall renaissance man' Robert J. Grubb, 86, longtime resident of New Providence, N.J., passed away April 9, 2017, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. He was born April 19, 1930, in Johnstown, PA, to Daniel J. and Ruth E. Grubb. Family and friends are kindly invited to visit the Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Avenue, Summit, NJ on Friday April 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. You are also invited to remember Bob and help celebrate his life in a memorial service on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Corner Church, 45 Church Street, Liberty Corner, N.J. Bob held three degrees in engineering and his career ranged from blasting cap patents with American Cyanamid in the 1950s, to cleanup and remediation work as an environmental expert in the 1990s. A Freemason, Korean War U.S. Marine, and overall renaissance man, Bob's interests included singing, trombone, gardening, cooking, home renovation, car repair, family vacations and his grandchildren. Bob's first wife, Betty (Cuppett) Grubb, passed away in 1984. Bob is lovingly remembered by his second wife, Athena (Crim) of New Providence; his sister, Marjorie (Grubb) Emmel of Ocala, FL; his son, Timothy and Susan Grubb of Bedminster, N.J.; daughter, Patricia and Chet Elspass of Alpha, N.J.; grandchildren, Cori (Elspass) Sutch, Benjamin Grubb-Dandola, Julia (Grubb) West, Bonnie (Elspass) Klingaman, and Samuel Grubb, and great-grandchildren Gavin, Annabelle, Claire, and Jane.
