Robert H. Goodrich
RANDOLPH - Robert Harold Goodrich, 84, of The Terrace Apartments, Randolph, passed away Thursday (Feb. 9, 2017) at the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Jamestown. He was born May 3, 1932, in the Town of Napoli, the son of the late Harold and Carrie Fellows Goodrich. Bob attended the Napoli rural school and was a self-employed handyman. He attended the Napoli United Methodist Church growing up and most of his adult life. In recent years he attended the East Randolph United Methodist Church, where he was most recently a member. Bob dedicated his life to service and was a volunteer for the Randolph ECHO senior nutrition program for many years. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. In 2009, he was named Cattaraugus County Volunteer of the Year for his selfless dedication and years of service to others. The Randolph Lions Club named him Citizen of the Year in 1998 for his active role in volunteering at the East Randolph Cemetery, mowing, spring and fall cleanup, and snow removal, and for his overall community-wide compassion and dedication. He lived at the Terrace Apartments on Jamestown Street for over 25 years where, until recent years, he cleaned snow off residents' cars, weeded the community garden, mowed the lawn, drove residents to doctor appointments and shopping, and lended a helping hand whenever he could. He will be missed. When Bob wasn't giving of himself, he loved watching the Buffalo Bills and baseball on television. He also enjoyed breakfasts and Friday night fish frys at local restaurants. He is survived by a niece, Linda Edgar Pelham and husband John of Napoli; nephew, Terry Edgar and wife Carol of Charlotte, N.C.; stepbrother, Robert Beach and wife Jean of East Randolph; stepsister, Patricia Gardiner of Warren, Pa.; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his stepmother, Alice Marie Goodrich; a sister, Bonita (Robert) Edgar; nephew, Stephen Edgar; and a stepbrother, Durwood Beach. Family and Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 18, 2017) in the East Randolph United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rodney Mileham officiating.
