Robert K. Gehris
Robert K. Gehris, 88, formerly of Wescosville, PA, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 in Phoebe Home, Allentown. Born February 28, 1928, in Reading, PA, he was a son of the late John D. and Ada Miller Gehris. Robert retired as a teacher from the Wilson Area School District where he had last worked at Wilson High School as the audio-visual director, planetarium director and baseball coach. He had previously been a teacher and principal at Williams Township Elementary School. He had also been a sports director and sports analyst for the former Twin County Cable, now RCN for many years. Robert graduated from Reading High School Class of 1945 and received a B.S. degree from Kutztown State College. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and Iron Pigs baseball fan. Robert enjoyed playing piano. Surviving is his wife, Roberta (Miller) Gehris; his daughters from his first marriage, Sally B. Hutnik and her husband James M., of Bethlehem, and Marianne B. Gehris, of Easton, and her fiance Dale Kramer, of Kutztown; and a grandson, Kyle C. Hutnik and his fiancee Caroline Wood and her daughter, Lorali, of Easton. Three brothers, Charles, James, and John "Pebs" Gehris and two sisters, Fern Wertz and Peggy Ann Strain, died earlier. Celebration of Life calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-7pm in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com .
