Robert L. Franklin
Robert L. Franklin, 86, of Trucksville, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Luzerne, he was the son of the late Robert and Anna Leo Franklin. Bob proudly served in the military, both in active duty and reserves, for 35 years, becoming a highly decorated war veteran. He retired as a command sergeant major of the 402nd Military Police. He worked for several local transportation companies until his retirement. Bob had a passion for golf, antique cars, the Phillies and teaching life lessons to his granddaughters. He was an active member of St. Therese's Church, serving as an usher at Saturday evening Mass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Regina Storz Franklin; son, Robert G., in 1987; and sister, Anne Marie Harleman. Surviving are his daughter, Jeanmarie McCabe and husband, Dan, and granddaughters, Lindsey and Erika. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Bob's name.
