Robert "Bob" Dicks Abilene, TX Robert "Bob" Dicks, 94, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at his residence in Abilene. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Bob was born in What Cheer, Iowa on October 4, 1922 to the late Melvin and Gladys Chapman Dicks. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School in Columbus Junction, Iowa. After graduation Bob lived and worked across the upper plains and Midwest with stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Sioux Falls, living the life of an ad man on the road in the 1940s and 50s. Bob met Jean Hightower in Ft. Worth, Texas. They married on May 27, 1965 in Dickens, Texas, settling in Abilene to raise a family. Bob was an advertising salesman for The Vernon Company for over 40 years. Bob was a mason, a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, and an avid baseball fan. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Victor Bouldin; and his siblings, Eugene Dicks, Wilma Masonholder, and Evelyn Vanselow. Survivors include his wife, Jean Dicks; a son, Robert H. Dicks II; a daughter, Ronda Lawry; and siblings, Doren Dicks, Betty Knupp, and Laverta Evans. You may view and sign the guestbook at
