In memory of
Robert Gordon DENTON
DENTON, Robert Gordon Robert Gordon Denton, 77, was unexpectedly taken from this earth on December 28, 2016, in Austin, Texas. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Kay (Jamison) Denton, his daughters Chris Froebel and husband Keith; Kate Fuentes and husband David; and his son Morris Denton and wife Laurie. Gordon is also survived by his six loving grandchildren: Hannah Barbe, Cole Barbe, Jamison Fuentes, Ana Kate Fuentes, Lila Denton and Spencer Denton. Gordon is also survived by many cousins and countless friends. Born in Bellville, Texas, the son of Eugene Denton and Mary (Barrett) Denton, and raised in Waco, Gordon graduated from Waco High School in 1957. Shortly thereafter Gordon joined the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves, completing his service while he attended the University of Texas. Gordon married his high school sweetheart in 1958 and after graduating from UT with a degree in Architectural Engineering in 1964, Gordon, Kay and their young family moved to Lubbock, Texas where Gordon became a partner at the James E. Walker Company, overseeing the design and construction of several buildings at Texas Tech University as well as many commercial properties in Lubbock and the Texas panhandle. Fueled by their passion for the mountains, Gordon and Kay moved their family from Lubbock to Aspen, Colorado, in 1978 and kept a home and property in the Roaring Fork Valley until 2014. While a resident of Aspen, Gordon was active in the Aspen Rotary Club and was the head cook for the original Deaf Camp Picnics. Gordon loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the endless bounties of living in the mountains until he and Kay moved their permanent home to Horseshoe Bay in 2006. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Barrett. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held February 17, 2017, at the Chapel at Riverbend Church in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family request donations in Gordon's honor at the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
