Robert Quincy Blevins Jr.
Robert Quincy Blevins, Jr Nanticoke-Robert Quincy Blevins, Jr., 83, of Nanticoke, Md. passed away peacefully due to Congestive Heart Failure at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, Md.on October 14, 2016. He was born on March 12, 1933 to Robert Quincy Blevins, Sr. and Eileen (Bell) Blevins in Shelltown, Md. Quincy graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1951.He attended the University of Maryland where he studied agriculture. He worked for the Department of Agriculture as an inspector for many years afterwards. Quincy retired from the government to pursue a career as a waterman. He loved working on the Nanticoke River as the river provided him with great peace and joy. He then went on to complete a degree in Social Work at Salisbury University and worked for the state health department in Westover, Md. as a drug and alcohol counselor. There are many people he mentored and supported through his years of counseling. Quincy met the love of his life, Shirley, at Snow Hill High School while in the 9th grade. They were married on November 22nd, 1951. They lived their lives in Salisbury, then in Nanticoke, Md. They had three children, Sharon, Bobby and Beth. Quincy was actively involved in the Westside Lion's Club where he has served as president and longtime member. He was also actively involved in the Nanticoke Methodist church. Quincy was preceded in death by his father, Robert Quincy Blevins, Sr. and his mother, Eileen (Bell) Blevins. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley (Hales) Blevins, daughter, Sharon White and her husband, Charlie of Worton, MD, son, Robert Quincy Blevins, III (Bob), and his wife Brenda of Westover, Md. and daughter, Beth Blevins-Smith and her husband, Dennis of Earleville, Md., grandchildren, Amy (Blevins) Gordon, Jennifer Warren, Emily Smith, Dennis Smith II, Olivia Smith and Christina Smith, great-grandchildren, Daphne Moyer, Lillian Gordon and Elyse Gordon. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald Blevins of West Point, VA. Daniel Blevins of Holton, Maine and Richard Blevins of Stockton, Md. He had many nieces, nephews and friends who were very special to him. A funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury.
