Robert Blackman 1948—2017 Robert Blackman, 69, of Rockford departed this earthly life April 15, 2017. He was born March 10, 1948, in Marston, Missouri; the son of the late Robert Blackman and Alice Misouria. Robert gave his life to Christ at an early age at Marston Missionary Baptist Church. He worked several years on the construction of the toll bridges in Chicago and fifteen years as a caregiver. Robert loved sports, politics, music and Cadillac's. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Clora Williams of Belleville, MI, Mary Misouria of Romulus, MI and Doris Wyatt (Donald) of Dearborn, MI; six nieces; two nephews; five great-nieces; five-great nephews; one aunt, Ruth Sanchez; one uncle, Sammie Misouria; four special friends, Ilander Willis, John Moore, William Coffee (cousin) and Leon (Christine) Willis; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a set of twins. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 1502 Rose Avenue. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements were completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State Street.
