Robert John Bell 7/12/1928 4/10/2017 Robert died peacefully at LifeCare on Monday, April 10th. He grew up on Bainbridge Island, where he met the love of his life, Virginia McComb at their high school dance. Robert served as a sergeant from 1946-1948 in the United States Army occupation force in Japan. During his service, he was awarded the marksmanship medal. Robert returned from the service to Seattle to attend the University of Washington as a Sigma Chi. He lettered in baseball becoming an outstanding pitcher elected to be all conference. In 1950, he married Virginia. After receiving his masters in Mathematics, he spent his career in the Seattle School District. He began as a teacher and principal of Roosevelt High School and finishing as assistant superintendent of the Seattle School District. In retirement, Robert and Virginia lived in Palm Desert, California; Conroe, Texas; Arnold, California; Summerlin, Nevada; and Reno, Nevada. He was an avid golfer and tennis player, winning the United States Tennis Association 60 year olds championship. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean Bell; older sister, Florence Lex; and granddaughter, Brittany Bell. He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 67 years; sons: Steven Bell (wife, Sabrina) of Reno, NV and Robert Bell (wife, Darlene) of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Nicole Edens (husband, Mathew) of Seattle, WA; Shannon Bell of Reno, NV and Robert Bell (wife, Camilla) of Salt Lake City, UT; greatgrandchildren: Kadence & Charlotte O'flaherty of Reno, NV and Easten & Harlow Edens of Seattle, WA. Burial was at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, NV. Local arrangements were entrusted to Walton's - O'Brien-Rogers & Crosby Funeral Home, Reno.
