In memory of
Rick Lue Howland
Howland, Rick Lue After a brief and unexpected battle with cancer, Rick Lue Howland ended his final ride at home with his wife by his side on Monday, October 17, 2016. Rick was a kind and caring man, he lovingly tormented his beautiful bride for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Elaine Howland and beloved sister-in-law Martha Howland. Rick is survived by his wife, Jan, and their children, Jessi (Charlie) Nelson, Emily (Jeremy) Blik, Annie (Nick) Gaylord, and Bobby Howland. Of all the names he was ever called, "Grandpa" was his favorite. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren, Alexis & Austin Nelson, Hali Blik, and Bryce & his namesake Peyton Richelle Gaylord. He is also survived by three brothers, Bob Howland, Jim (Mary) Howland, Bruce (Lynda) Howland and many nieces and nephews. His humor will be missed by many friends and loved ones. He was an avid motorcyclist for over 40 years. He was a member of Tri-County Eagles, Eagle Riders, Amble Motorcycle Group, and a founding member of the Tri-County Compassion Center. Because he was morally opposed to cut flowers, the family asks to plant a tree in Rick's memory or make a donation in his name to Gilda's Club Lowell or Carol's Ferals of Grand Rapids. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at Heckman's Funeral Home in Howard City, Michigan. Per Rick's request, a memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date. ... Show More
