Richard A. Yale
Richard A. Yale, 88, of Smithfield Township, Pa., passed away at home attended by his family on Jan. 10, 2017. Born in Sayre, Pa., he was raised and lived in the Ridgebury and East Smithfield area. He married Angeline J. Nichols and spent 67 years together. Richard was active in the community - a life-member of Tri-Township Ambulance Association since its inception since 1957 - also serving as secretary/treasurer for a number of years. He was also the Smithfield Township secretary for 30 plus years. He was employed as assistant manager of East Smithfield Farms for 27 years till its closure, then as SEO with Bradford County Sanitation Committee until his retirement. Known as Uncle Dick or Grandpa Yale to most, he will always be remembered by friends and family for his woodworking skills, recalling stories of his and your youth, horsemanship, and donating over 20 years of pony rides at STVFD 4th of July Celebration. He is survived by his children, Carolyn (Don) Learn, Merle (Linda) Yale; grandchildren, Mark (Christine) Learn, Jeff (Stacey) Learn, Penny (Kevin) Yale Wood, Brent (Desirae) Yale; great-grandchildren, Kali (Tim) Learn Mobley, Bruce Learn, Noah, Madalynn and Alivia Lear, Dillon and Ashton Wood, Makaylah, Mya, and Madison Buck; a very special great-great granddaughter, Layla Carolyn Mobley; brother, Ramon (Patricia) Yale; brother-in-law, Ralph (Joann) Nichols; sister-in-law, Velma Chamberlain Yale; a very special cousin, Gail G. Westerholt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Angeline J. Nichols, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert M. and Mildred Hotalen Yale; and brother, Donald M Yale. A celebration of his life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the Veterans Memorial Hall (former VFW Hall), Rolling Hills Road, Smithfield Township.
