Richard V. Wickett Richard (Dick) was born on July 26, 1924 on a farm near Laurel, Nebraska to Verner and Ruby (Conrad) Wickett, and passed away at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma, WA., on September 14, 2016. He is survived by four sons: Randy (Robin), Stacey (Lori), Daniel and Russell (Lynette); daughter-in-law, Sara; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and extended family. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers; his wife, Ruth Jeane; son, Barry; and grandson, Michael. Dick was living near Shelton, Washington at the time of his passing. He was a naval aviator and flight instructor during World War II; and following his military service, a farmer, first near Laurel, Nebraska and then near Oakville, Washington. He also worked for the Washington State Highway Department and retired from there after several years of service. A memorial service will be held October 22 at 1:00 p.m., at Shelton Christian Church. 105 Arcadia Ave., Shelton, WA 98584. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Laurel-Concord Alumni Association (P.O. Box 16, Laurel, NE 68745) to help fund scholarships for current students of the high school from which he graduated.
