Richard Manning Price College Station, TX Richard Manning Price, 81, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment and committal rites will follow at 3:00PM, at the Tubb Cemetery in Oakwood, Texas. Born June 26, 1935 to Iris Christabelle English and Manning A. Price, in Leon County Texas. Richard graduated with his Bachelor's Degree from Sam Houston State Teacher's College in May 1957 and completed his law degree at Baylor University in Waco in 1962. He served in the US Army as a Lieutenant from 1957-1959. He practiced law in Abilene, Texas for over 30 years. During this time he was the youngest district attorney in Texas serving from 1964-1968. Richard was an avid historian and enjoyed traveling to historic places throughout the United States and was thought to be a "walking encyclopedia" by his children who were "forced to stop and read" every historical marker along the way. Richard is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Manning A. Price and Joyce Price; mother and stepfather, Iris Christabelle Jones and Durward Jones; son, Richard Manning Price, II. He is survived by his wife, Velda Williams Price; son, Kellous Price and Amber Charlton of College Station; daughter, Tracy Price Staats of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Carter Staats and Ally Staats of New Braunfels. He is also survived by his brothers: Charles E. Price and wife Charlene of Palestine, Texas and William F. Price and wife Nancy of College Station Texas. After retirement, Richard spent his time tending to his cattle at his farm in Leon County where he enjoyed, riding his tractors, cutting and baling hay, and taking in/rescuing stray dogs. Richard was an active member and president of Tubb Cemetery association in Leon County. Richard leaves behind family, extended family, and lifelong friends who will miss his dry humor and wit.
