LANGUELL, Richard "Dick" Ewing Richard "Dick" Ewing Languell, 87, of Austin, TX, passed peacefully on Tuesday October 11th 2016 at Austin Heart Hospital in Austin, TX in the company of his devoted family. Dick was born on May 13 1929 in Bloomington, IN, to Denzil and Alma Languell. He is survived by his wife Carol Languell; sister Frances Sexton; his children Lori Languell Crayton, Stephen Languell, Stacie Languell, and their mother Wilma Languell; Carol's three children Linda Kopp, Douglas Smith, and Guy Smith; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Languell and sister Mary Jane Thickstun. Dick served his country in the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force. He worked on the F4U Corsair, B-36, and B-52. His service led to a successful career at IBM spanning almost 30 years. Dick was a kind, gentle man with a caring heart and a keen sense of humor. He was a patient, calm, thoughtful, and wise husband, father, and grandfather who truly loved his family. He was a steadfast friend and an active volunteer in his church, neighborhood and community. If ever there was a need he found a way to fill it. His quick wit, dry humor, verbal repartee and puns were legendary. He was an avid reader, never without a book in hand. He enjoyed golf, poker, card games, sports, and racing. In his 87 years, Dick enriched every life he touched. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Wednesday, October 19th at 3:30 PM at Unity Church of the Hills, 9905 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unity Church of the Hills, or a charity of your choice.
