Richard E. Hoats, 75 of Allentown, PA died peacefully on October 12, 2016 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Twp., surrounded by the love of his children. He was born September 29, 1941 in Allentown, PA, son of the late Anne E. (Fetherolf) Hoats and the late Earle W. Hoats. He was a graduate of Allentown High School class of 1959 and attended Muhlenberg College. Dick, as he liked to be called, will always be remembered as the voice of Hess's during the 1960's when the department store flourished and people visited from all over the world. Around 1978 he founded Hoats Beverage Company. He was owner and operator of a successful spring water/soda distributorship until 1987 when his son, Scott Hoats took over operations. The business renamed Blue Rock Mountain Spring Water continued to flourish until sold in 2013. After retirement, he was a courier for Health Network Labs in Allentown until June 2011. He was an EMT and volunteer for the Upper Saucon Twp. Ambulance Corp. for many years. The family is grateful to, and thanks the doctors, nurses, aides and staff for their understanding, compassion, care and assistance in caring for their father the last five years. Survivors: Dick was predeceased by his oldest son, Richard James Hoats in 1991. He is survived by sons, Timothy A. and Scott R. Hoats of Allentown; daughter, Kelli A. Kostick and son-in-law Michael of Northampton; grandchildren, Rachel and her husband Chris Tagliavia, Nicholas Hoats, Emily Hoats, Aaron Kostick, Mason Kostick, Skylar Kostick and; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Peter Fink of Cetronia; niece, Susan and nephew, John. Services: A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10 A.M. in the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown.
