Richard C. Elmore
Elmore, Richard C. SARATOGA SPRINGS Richard C. Elmore, 90, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017. Born in Walton, N.Y. on April 23, 1926, he was the son of Ralph and Bernice Elmore. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Newman. Richard was a millwright at the Watervliet Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. He was a Jeff Gordon fan and attended several NASCAR races with his family. Hunting and fishing was his passion. Richard was an active member of the Ballston Area Seniors. Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley; his daughters, Sherry Demers (Raymond) of Malta and Kimberly Messier (Michael) of Waterford; grandchildren, Justin Demers (Jennie), Kyle Demers (Dr. Greg Fenton), Chad Halikias (Tiffany Cicarelli), Richard Halikias, and Zoe Halikias (Zach Mason); siblings, Patricia O'Boyle, Judith Fisher, Rosemary Morehouse, Barry Pudney and R. Michael Elmore; brother-in-law, Ronald O'Dell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Esther O'Dell. Richard's family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Saratoga Hospital, especially the staff on C3. They would also like to thank the entire staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs for their care and support. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, in Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 17, from 5 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Richard to the American Diabetes Association or to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
