Eby, RIchard Aged 63; of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Our Rick left us on October 8, 2016. He graduated from Alma High School in 1972. He packed a lot of adventure into his life. He hitchhiked through Central America in 1973-74, then lived in a commune in Oregon for several years. Later he settled in Arkansas to raise his son Jordan and his stepson Andy. Rick loved music and played in numerous bands over the years. He owned an audio studio and recorded music, commercials, and many interviews with Cherokee and Choctaw Native Americans. At the University of Arkansas he did research on African American newspapers dating back to the 1920s, and he earned his Master’s degree there just two years ago. An unusually tolerant person, Rick was willing to listen to and discuss anyone’s point of view, even when he disagreed. Rick is survived by his parents, Ann and Al Eby of Alma, siblings Jeff, Stan, Cindy, Dee, Jill, Pam, and Tracy, as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews in Michigan, Texas, and Colorado, and his son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Amanda, stepson Andy and family, grandchildren Arianna, Connor, and Justice, and Jordan’s mother, Jan Clark, all of Arkansas. Memorial music fests will soon be held in Arkansas, and a celebration of his life will take place in Northern Michigan near Lake Michigan next summer.
