Richard A. Brayer
Richard "Dick" A. Brayer, 76, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away 4-13-17. He is preceded in death by his parents, Laverne "Bud" Brayer and Catherine Reid Brayer, and by his beloved Aunt, Lois C. Brayer. He was born in Rochester, NY, on 11-21-40. Dick graduated from West High School and received a BS in Agriculture from the University of Georgia. He was married to Aino Patynen on Aug. 6, 1966. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past year. Dick worked in Reprographics and Geophysical Technical Sales at Eastman Kodak Company for 30 years. In 1990, Dick received the award for Top National Salesman for Kodak. Kodak took Dick and the family many places throughout the years. The family lived in Rochester, Philadelphia, Dallas, St. Louis, and finally, The Woodlands. Dick worked his retirement dream job for the last 11 years at The Woodlands Country Club. He was a marshall on the golf course, assisting golfers and feeding biscuits to his beloved canine friends who lived on the course....especially his buddy, Jake. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, both a 3rd and 4th degree Knight. Dick had a passion for traveling, stamp collecting, golf, and bowling. He was an avid member of soccer, baseball, basketball, golf, and bowling teams for much of his life. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Everyone knew about his family...he talked about them to anyone who would listen! Dick Brayer never knew a stranger, meeting new people and experiencing new things brought him much happiness. Dick is survived by his wife, Aino, his daughters, Lisa Ochoa (Jamie), Jill Nickel (Jeff), Lori Gaudern (Stephen), his grandchildren, Josh and Jacob Ochoa, Katie and Caleb Nickel, Matthew, Megan, Luke, and Logan Gaudern, his brother, Tom Brayer (Betty), his nephews, John(April) and Jeff Brayer, his niece, Jennifer Brayer, and several cousins. The funeral will be held at 11:00, 4-26-17, at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish. Visitation will be at 10:00 at the church. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to The Melanoma Research Foundation, www.melanoma.org , in honor of Dick's grandson, Joshua Ochoa, who is battling melanoma.
