Rhonda Edge Buescher, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at her residence, after a battle with a stage-four glioma brain tumor. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Gardner officiating. Interment: in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Blakely Funeral Home. Born in High Point, N.C., she was the wife of Alan Ray Buescher and daughter of the late Horace Lee Edge Jr. and Eileen Keller Edge. She was a graduate of Furman University (B.M., Church Music), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.C.M.), and the University of South Carolina (Ph.D., Music Education). Survivors: Husband, Alan Ray Buescher; brother, Jeffrey L. Edge and wife, Angela Mills Edge, and niece, Yulia Edge of Huntersville, N.C.; nieces, Tracy Gundy of Leander, Bailey Buescher of Frisco, Brooke Vescovo of Houston and Leah Gibson, of Austin; nephews, Dave Buescher of Galveston, Kyle Buescher of Tom Bean, Brett Buescher of Frisco and David Buescher of Houston; and twelve grand nieces and nephews. Rhonda served the Lord as full-time Minister of Music and Youth in Joanna, S.C., and in part-time positions in Southern Baptist and Disciple of Christ churches in Texas, Missouri and South Carolina. She was a guest conductor in fifteen states and a clinician or guest professor in twenty-two states, Canada, Europe and Central America. She authored two church music education books, twenty-one articles and book reviews for music education magazines and church music journals, and five church music education curricula for teaching preschool and elementary grades. Rhonda was Assistant Professor of Music at Hannibal-LaGrange University; Associate Professor of Church Music Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Adjunct Instructor of Music at Belmont University. Rhonda completed her career in ministry at LifeWay Christian Resources as Team Leader, Preschool/Children's Music Product Development, Music Ministries Department; Managing Director, Music, Publishing and Recording; Director, Magazine and Devotional Ministry and Business Development; and Director, Media Business Development. Rhonda was an active member of Brentwood Baptist Church, where she served in the worship orchestra as a Decision Counselor and as a Children's Bible Study teacher. She served in a mission trip team and as a volunteer member, vice chair, chair and chair emeritus of Staff Resource Team. Rhonda's purpose in life was to serve the Lord. She was a mentor and encourager to her students and colleagues and, like her mother, a prayer warrior. Rhonda loved cooking and sewing and enjoyed watching football, baseball, hockey and golf. She loved watching "chick flick" movies and British comedies with her husband.
