Rex L. Bennett
Rex L. Bennett , fondly known as RB, departed from this life on February 9, 2017 at his winter home in Sun Lakes, AZ. Rex was born on August 22,1931 to Opal and Ralph Bennett in Abilene, Texas at the home of his grandparents , Ruth and LP Bennett. Rex spent his early days at the family ranch near Denver City, Texas, and attended and schools at Denver City ,Texas, Falcon Schools in Colorado Springs, Abilene Christian High and Abilene Christian College where he received a BA in Agriculture and business. The Family moved to the Co. Springs area in 1941 which at that time owned and operated a ranch in the Falcon area, then later to own a ranch in Peyton. Rex grew up in a ranch environment with a great rodeo influence for Rex's father Ralph Bennett and Uncle Hugh Bennett were quite the famous cowboys who both are in The Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. After his gradation from college in June of 1953 he married the former Louise Watson . To this union was born two daughters, Sharon R. Bennett of Colo. Springs and Janice L. Good of Buena Vista ,Co. In Oct of 1953 was drafted to the US Army later to be stationed, at Camp Hale . Real estate developer, and rancher who owned the livestock commission in Colo. Springs in the late sixties and in the seventies he served on the board of the El Paso Co. planning commission. He was a member of The El Paso Club and President of the El Paso Club.in 1986 where he married Sherry K. Hughes on Nov.22,1986 . Rex was a member of the Broadmoor Golf Club, Mt. Massive Lakes Fishing Club, Soil Savers, and 32nd degree shiner. Rex is survived by his loving wife Sherry K Bennett, daughters, Sharon R. Bennett, grandsons, Jeffery B. Cullers and wife Vanessa, great granddaughters, Ariel and Juliette of Ft. Collins, CO, Jason R. Cullers and wife Jennifer of El Paso, Texas and daughter Janice L. Good her husband Bob Good of Buena Vista, CO and granddaughters, Anna Marie Jones of Grand Junction, Co and Christina L. Jones of Portland, OR. Rex enjoyed life and will be missed by many family and friends, for he touched so many lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date in Colo. Springs. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pikes Peak Rangers Foundation or a charity of your choice.
