Reuben Blalock Walker, Jr. Services for Reuben Blalock "Rube" Walker Jr., 84, of Oil City, LA, will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home Chapel in Vivian, LA officiated by Pastor Jessie Colston. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Oil City, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 3-6 pm on Saturday, October 15th at the funeral home. Reuben was born to parents, Reuben B. Walker Sr. and Myrtle Palmer Walker on November 27, 1931 in Mansfield, LA and passed away on October 13, 2016 after a two-year battle with bone cancer. He joined the US Navy during the Korean War and was assigned to the U.S.S. McCord destroyer as a Boatswain. After the war, he began a lifelong career with United Gas Pipeline Company and retired in 1987. Reuben traveled to Ferriday, LA while working on a survey crew for United Gas in 1956 and met the love of his life Sybil B. McGlothin. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2010. Reuben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply and forever missed. Reuben was a member of First Baptist Church of Oil City, LA. His passions included duck hunting and white perch fishing on his beloved Caddo Lake. He also enjoyed watching and discussing every aspect of LSU football games with his two sons, Billy and Bubba. Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Curry; wife, Sybil B. Walker; and son, Royce (Bubba) Gene Walker. He is survived by his sister, Helen Jean Thomas; son, Billy B. Walker and wife Marites and their children Mayumi and Daniel; daughter-in-law, Lisa D. Walker; granddaughter Jessica Bullard; and two great grandchildren, Brailen and Baya. Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Glenn Lambing, Wes Womack, Duane Nottingham, Hammer Nottingham, and Mike Lyles. The family would like to especially thank Dottie Lambing for her help and support during Reuben's illness. John 11:25 - I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.
