Rella I. Salmons
QUINCY -- Rella I. Salmons, 103, of 639 York, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Blessing Hospital. Rella was born July 27, 1913, in Shelbyville, a daughter of Calvin and Otie (Severe) Howe. She married Clarence J. Salmons in October 1938, and he preceded her in death. Rella was of the Methodist faith. She was a talented quilter and embroiderer and also liked crocheting. Rella loved playing bingo and cards, especially the game Skip-Bo. Survivors include her children, Gene Salmons and his wife, Neveta, of Liberty, Garroll Salmons and his wife, Norma, of Aberdeen, S.D., and Barbara McDowell and her husband, Richard, of Florissant, Mo.; her sister, Fleta Griffith of Decatur; grandchildren, Cheryl (Larry) Vogler and Jerry (Bobbi) Salmons, both of Quincy, Barry Dykes of Racine, Wis., Brad Dykes and Brian Salmons, both of Spokane Valley, Wash., Desi (Aaron) Salmons-Midgett of Laramie, Wyo., Geanne Maschler of Olathe, Kan., Eric (Christy) McDowell and David (Cristal) McDowell, both of Florissant, Jameson (April) Tallyn and Steven Tallyn, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Sara Endejan of St. Louis; and great-grandchildren, Andy and Katie Vogler, Austin and Heather Salmons, Kathryn Midgett, Matthew Dykes, Trisha Hanks, Alex and Alissa McDowell, and James McDowell and Evelyn G. Tallyn. Nieces and nephews also survive. Rella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Julia Salmons and Evelyn Tallyn; one brother, Carl; and five sisters, Vera, Bertha, Leta, Doris and Edith. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Clagget Funeral Home, Brownstown, followed by interment in Liberty Church Cemetery, Sefton. VISITATION: 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
