Rebanis Maude "Frankie" Gloye
Rebanis "Frankie" Gloye Rebanis Maude (Frankforter) Gloye, 92, passed away peacefully at home, October 10, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Frankie was born in 1924 to Lennie and Maude Frankforter on a Nebraska farm, homesteaded by her grandfather. In 1941, she graduated from Tobias High School in a class of 11 students. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and eventually earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from USC. Her career as a teacher and librarian spanned 50 years. Frankie married Dr. Eugene Gloye in 1949. Gene and Frankie had two sons, Robert in 1954, and William in 1957, prior to moving the family to Whittier, Calif. in 1957. Gene was a professor of Psychology at Whittier College and Frankie was the school librarian at Los Nietos middle school. In 1996 Gene and Frankie moved to Grover Beach, California, to enjoy family on the Central Coast. She became an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, League of Women Voters, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, a library volunteer and supportive grandmother. Her interests included reading, Nebraska football, walking on the beach, and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Frankie is survived by her sons, Bob of San Jose and Bill and his wife Nancy of Atascadero; three grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; six nieces; two nephews and many other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in San Luis Obispo.
