GASTON, Mrs. Reba Elizabeth Cox Age 101 passed away February 11, 2017. A graduate of Steele High School and Howard University. Her careers spanned teaching at Dunbar High School and founding Gaston's Drugs with her husband Bill. She served on the Boards of The American Red Cross, Children's Medical Center, The American Cancer Society, The Dayton Art Institute, and Good Samaritan Hospital's Foundation Board. She received numerous honors including: 1987-The Ohio Arts Council award from the Governor of Ohio; Distinguished Citizens for Art Education from the Western Ohio Arts Education Association; 1992-Dayton's "TOP TEN WOMEN"; 2006-The YWCA' S "Women of Influence Award". An active member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, where she served in many roles- Sunday-School teacher, Superintendent, and the Episcopal Church Women. A lifetime member of the NAACP, The Urban League, The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and The Dayton Chapter of The Links, Inc. Her beloved husband, William A. Gaston and youngest daughter, Cheryl Lynn Gaston Price, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters, Anne Gaston Burns (Luther) and Joyce Gaston Dent, her son-in-law Homer Price, II, six loving grandchildren who called her "Nana", Lauren Lucas, Donald Lucas (Dana) and David Lucas (Anita), Robyn Alexander (James), Homer Price, III and Justin Price (Tonette), 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Holden, Amira, Kristin, Trey, Jessica, Corinne, Arianna, Julian and Alex, three nephews, Lloyd Cox (Ida), Ronnie Cox (Linda) and Terry Cox, a cousin, Jeffrey Fearing, a host of extended family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Reba Gaston to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 5301 Free Pike, Trotwood, Ohio 45426, or The Dayton Chapter of the Links, Inc., Educational Fund, Fund #2403, c/o The Dayton Foundation, 40 N. Main Street, Suite 500, Dayton, Ohio, 45423. The family will begin receiving friends Saturday, February 18, 2017, 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 5301 Free Pike, Trotwood, Ohio. Memorial services by The Dayton Chapter of Links, Inc. at 10:00 a.m., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at 10:30 a.m. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. HHRoberts.com
