Raymond C. Cordova LAFAYETTE - A Christian Memorial Mass and funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille, for Raymond C. Cordova, 75, who passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will officiate the Mass and funeral service. John T. Landry will serve as Eucharistic Minister. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles' Wings". Visitation will be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of the Memorial Mass. Raymond C. Cordova was born September 30, 1941, in Lafayette, LA, to the late Marie Mouton Cordova Savoy. Raymond was Senior Advisor to U.S. Senator John Breaux in the Lafayette, LA office and retired after 30 years service; 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives and 16 years in the U.S. Senate. He was Division Manager for Jackson Brewing Company in New Orleans for six years. For four years he was Administration Director of Spencer Business College, and during that time taught the Mr. Executive course. Early in his life he worked for Abdalla's downtown, in the men's department, for four years. He served as a state board member for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) in New Orleans, LA for four years; past President of the Quarterback Club and Roll on Program for UL; United Way chairman for federal employees, and Chapter Chairman of the American Red Cross in Lafayette, LA. During his time with the Lafayette Jaycee's he served as past president, National Director of the U.S. Jaycee's, lifetime member of the Lafayette and Louisiana Jaycee's, Outstanding Man of the Year, Chairman of the Azalea Trail, Cleanest City Contest, Junior golf program (local and state), and hosted two state conventions in Lafayette. Hobbies he enjoyed were playing tennis and golf, as well as hunting and fishing. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 12 years, Jennifer, daughter Denise Breaux and husband Wally, son Greg and wife Jaquetta, two grandchildren, Chase Breaux and wife Crystal, and Chet Breaux, PhD and wife Beth, one step-grandchild, Dominque Pizzie, one great grandchild, Lucie Breaux, three half sisters, Florence and husband Brent Castille, Laura Canter, and Roberta and husband Stevie Higginbotham and one half brother, Robert and wife Roquel Savoy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Schoofs Cordova; mother, Marie Mouton Cordova Savoy; beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rene J. Mouton; and his brother-in-law, Denny Canter. The family would like to extend special thanks to the following for their compassionate care given to Raymond and his family; Dr. Chancellor Donald, Dr. James Cole, and the entire staff of Louisiana Oncology Associates; Hospice of Acadiana, nurse, Joeann Harrington, aid, Carolyn Fontenette, and his caregivers, Judy and Kasey.
