Rev. Raymond Booth
Booth, Rev. Raymond H. Pittsford: Father Raymond H. Booth, 87, a priest of The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, died on October 15, 2016 at the Sisters of Saint Joseph Motherhouse following a brief illness. Father Ray was born on April 27, 1929. He is predeceased by his parents, Kimball and Cora Booth, and his brother, Donald K. Booth. He is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Elynore Booth; 4 nieces and nephews; 9 grand nieces and nephews; 6 great-grand nieces and nephews. Father Ray grew up in Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Rochester, and received priestly formation at Saint Bernard's Seminary in Rochester. On June 8, 1957, Father Ray was ordained a Catholic Priest by The Most Reverend Lawrence B. Casey, Auxiliary Bishop of Rochester. Following priestly ordination, Father Ray served at Saint Mary of the Lake Parish in Ontario, Saint Joseph Parish in Penfield, Holy Family Parish in Rochester, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Rochester, Saint Christopher Parish in North Chili, and Saint Paul Parish in Webster. In June, 1999, Father Ray was granted senior status and became a priest-in-residence at Saint Louis Parish, Pittsford. Additionally, Father Ray served in various Diocesan capacities, including Director of Cursillo and as a member of the Presbyteral Council. Father Ray was a most inspiring priest because he was a friend to one and all. In sharing his friendship with us, he led us to a deeper friendship with Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Thank you, Father Ray. On Monday, October 17, 2016 Father Ray will lie in state at Saint Louis Church, 64 South Main Street, Pittsford from 4-7 PM with an evening prayer service at 7 PM. On Tuesday, October 18 Father Ray will lie in state at Saint Louis Church from 9-10 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Rochester, will be the main celebrant. Following the Mass there will be a reception at Saint Louis Church, then interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
