PIQUA — Ray Porter, 92, of Piqua, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at the Upper Valley Medical Center. Ray was born in Piqua on April 4, 1924, to the (late) Ray and Frances (Deeter) Porter; a graduate of Piqua High School, class of 1942; was a WWII Army veteran; a lifetime member of the Covington Church of the Brethren, where he was a member of the choir and served as deacon, and served on numerous committees. Ray worked at Citizens National Bank, General Films, and retired from Piqua National Bank, all in Covington. He also enjoyed woodworking. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lois Honeyman. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jane (Sellers) Porter, who he married July 19, 1947; two daughters, Lesley and husband, Richard Young of Piqua, Robin Frodyma of Beavercreek; four grandchildren, Zachary (Anissa) Weymer of Sidney, Gunnar (Stephanie) Weymer of Sidney, Andrea (Brent) Overfield of Beavercreek, Whitney (Dr. Chris) Malone of Canton; five great-grandchildren, Layne Weymer, Gunnar Weymer, Gabbrielle Weymer, Rosalyn Weymer, Gideon Weymer; brother, Gene (Pauline) Porter of Florida. Funeral service 12 noon Monday at the Covington Church of the Brethren, 101 N. Wall St., Covington, with Pastor Michael Yingst officiating. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covington Church of the Brethren.
