HARTLY - Ralph Spencer, Sr., of Hartly, Del., passed away at on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 5, 1936 in Clayton, Del., the son of the late Charlie and Grace Spencer. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic after many years. Following his retirement, he owned a small engine repair shop. Ralph enjoyed breakfast at McDonalds with family, watching the WWE and working in his garage and being outdoors. Ralph loved helping people and was well known as an honest, loyal and a true good man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his daughters, Charlotte Rocco and Brenda Stone; his sisters, Mary Slaughter, Myrtle Buckle, and Agnes Lord; his brothers, Charlie Spencer, Jr. and Kenneth Spencer. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mabel; his daughter, Louise Spencer of Hartly; his son, Ralph Spencer, Jr. of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Rhonda Yountz, Angel Potter, Theodore Yuccu, Angee Stone, Josh Stone, Desi Roberson, Christopher Rodriquez, Bobby MacKnett, IV (Angie), Kevin MacKnett (Grace), Ralph Spencer, III and Jacqueline Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; five brothers, Harry, Thomas (Janet) and Clarence Spencer (Judy) and George (Wanda) and Troy Woodall (Dolly); and his sister, Grace Ann Fuhr. A viewing will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Faries Funeral, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna.
