Priscilla A. Madrid
PRISCILLA A. MADRID Priscilla A. Madrid, 64, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 19, 2016. She was born September 5, 1952 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Filia and Charlie G. Madrid. Priscilla was a long time resident of Santa Fe, NM, moving to Albuquerque, NM in 2001. As a teenager she loved to dance and performed with the Lily Baca dance group for the Santa Fe Fiestas. She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1971. She continued her education at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM and the College of Santa Fe. In 1977 she was the first from the College of Santa Fe to be selected for the cooperative education program to work in Denver, CO with the Government Civil Rights program, investigating discrimination among colleges. She returned to Santa Fe where she was employed with the NM State Human Services Department, retiring as a social worker. Priscilla loved to dress up in her colorful skirts, especially the color Purple and wearing her jewelry. She was always ready to go out and help friends with a ride or just to go out for lunch. She loved to take a drive up to the mountains to enjoy the fresh air outdoors. She was preceded in death by, her parents Charlie and Filia Madrid, nephew's Juan Brito and Joseph Montoya, niece Elizabeth Brito and brother-in-law Max Montoya. She is survived by her sisters: Rosella Montoya and Connie Madrid-Romero, spouse John, brothers: James Madrid, spouse Hilda and Ernest Madrid, fianc Susie Trujillo. Priscilla leaves behind a special great-nephew Jacob Brito, and special friend Pat Griego of Tesuque and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her aunts: Mollie Garcia, Ida Leyba and Helen Vigil, spouse Louie. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 22 at 10 am, San Isidro Church, 3552 Agua Fria St., Santa Fe, NM.
