WINTERVILLE | Mrs. Portia Jarman Hill, 69, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 P.M. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Portia was raised in Trenton, N.C. and graduated from Wheat Swamp High School. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Kinston. Portia worked as a Special Project Coordinator for Ray Kennedy Entertainment, which specialized in cruise ship entertainment. She loved to travel and loved all of the many people she met and worked with over the years. Portia was a social butterfly and an outdoor sports enthusiast. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. Portia was preceded in death by her father, Dalton Ray Jarman. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Daniel Hill; son, Clarence F. Stroud, Jr. and wife Diane, of Boone; daughter, Crissie Taylor Blackmon and husband Glenn, of Fort Mill, S.C.; grandson, Elijah Dalton Stroud of Boone; mother, Jennie Mae Jarman Bryan of Washington; her labradoodle, Brie and mutt, Pookie. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elsa's Pride Animal Rescue, 4912 Lebanon St., Charlotte, NC 28270.
