Phyllis Irene Lathrop Phyllis, a lifetime Lacey resident, loving wife, mother and a friend to many died peacefully October 1, 2016. Phyllis was born in Tacoma, May 1, 1927 to Emil J and Anna M Johnson. She graduated from William Winlock Miller HS in 1945 where she was involved in cheerleading and the school band. Phyllis worked for Ma Bell and married Donald R Lathrop in 1949. They had three children. She loved playing cards with friends and any game with her grandchildren. She spent hours in her yard and garden and loved making flower bouquets to share with friends. Her friends and family have many memories of her homemade bread and all the different cookies she made. Phyllis was a gifted listener and her kitchen nook was a regular gathering spot for worldly and spiritual conversation. Her faith was strong and she loved serving at church. She was always there if anyone was in need. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 1982 and daughter, Kathleen, in 2016. Phyllis is survived by son, Donald R Lathrop Jr., wife, Candence, and children, Chris, Jarred and Jon; grand- daughter, Fiona Joe; and daughter, Diana J Lathrop, husband, Bob, and children, Makella and Ryley. A Celebration of Phyllis' Life will be held Saturday, October 22, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2109 College St SE Lacey, WA.
