DOVER, N.H. – Phyllis M. (Witham) Hardenbrook, 94, of Dover, N.H., and York Beach, Maine, died peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at her home following a brief illness. Phyllis was born on January 16, 1922, in Dover, the daughter of Verne F. and Verna A. (Nelson) Witham and has resided in the area all of her life. Phyllis's long career in the telephone business began when she started working for New England Telephone in the early 1940s. She was named group manager of the main switchboard in 1970 until her retirement in 1985. Her work was fulfilling and Phyllis was proud of her professional accomplishments. She was a long standing member of the Telephone Pioneers, a retirement organization for telephone employees. Phyllis enjoyed spending time at her home in York Beach with her family and friends. Nana spent every summer at the beach, starting at a young age taking day trips with her parents, to when she moved into her own home in 1985 upon retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Conner, and husband John; granddaughter, Amy Conner and husband Marc Chessler, granddaughter, Laurie Bell and husband Brad, and five great-grandchildren, Olivier, Tristan, Isabelle, and Nicolas Chessler, and Hailey Bell. She is survived by her brother, Robert N. Witham, of York Beach, Maine, niece, Martha Witham, and nephews, Bruce and Scott Witham. She is also survived by her son, Bruce Hardenbrook and wife Janet, grandson, Adam Hardenbrook and wife Lisa, and great-granddaughter, Lucy Hardenbrook. SERVICES: A time of visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H., with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
