Philomena Fannie Ascioti
Philomena "Fannie" Ascioti, of Solvay , passed away Saturday at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the sole proprietor of Ascioti's Meat Market on Milton Avenue in Solvay, where she enjoyed working daily before retiring. She was a devout and generous Catholic who gave willingly and often to many charities. Fannie loved her family and enjoyed family get-togethers. Spending time with her great-great nieces and great-great nephews brought much joy to her life and many smiles to her face. After retiring, she loved to cook and discuss recipes with her sisters and nieces. She also was a caregiver for many family members. She is pre-deceased by her parents: Catherine & Antonio Ascioti, her brothers: Joseph (Mattia), Demetrio (Evelyn), Dominick "Doc" (Irene) and Louis; her sisters: Agatha Vilasi, Lucretia Quattrone, and Lena Guardino. Surviving are her sisters, Frances Quattrone and Rose Spagnoletti, and her sister-in-law, Rose Cardinale. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to acknowledge and thank her caregivers: Virginia Muolo, Danielle Vito, Nancy Dunham, and Sarah Fatcheric. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Fannie's life at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 18th, in St. Cecilia's Church, Solvay, New York. Private burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. In accordance with Fannie's wishes, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, her two favorite charities.
