In memory of
Phillip Allan Matthew July 11, 1935 - Jan. 10, 2017 Phillip Allan Matthew was born in Modesto, California on July 11, 1935. His birthday was easy to remember because it was 7-11. Phil's parents were Allan and Harriett Matthew, and they owned a peach ranch in Hughson, CA. Phil also had a younger sister, Joan Matthew, who preceded him in death. Phil had three children: Denise Mayer, Eric Matthew, and Craig Matthew, and 6 grandchildren. Phil attended elementary and high school in Hughson, CA, and also attended Modesto Jr. College. Most of his life, he was a Printing Pressman, and an almond farmer. Growing up on a peach ranch, Phil learned the value and rewards of hard work, and wanted to farm himself, so he purchased an Almond Ranch in Denair, CA, where he lived for many years and raised a family. Even though he both worked full-time, and farmed, he always found time to pursue his favorite hobbies which were camping, hunting, and fishing. From an early age Phil had a love of the outdoors, and he especially loved the Sierras. After he retired, Phil followed his life long dream and moved to the Sierras, where he lived for the rest of his life. Phil had many friends in the greater Placerville area, and also enjoyed several hobbies including rock hounding, jewelry making, and writing. Phil was also a very spiritual person. Phil passed away on January 10, 2017, at the age of 81, at Doctor's Medical Center from medical complications resulting from a fall, and a fractured pelvis, which occurred in December. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Phil was laid to rest in the Placerville Union Cemetery on January 21, 2017. www.cvobituaries.com
