Philip James Surprenant, 77, a long time resident of Odenton, MD died suddenly in Ocean City, MD on. October 8,2016. Born in Troy, New York to Philip and Gladys Canavan Surprenant, Philip was retired from the Postal Service, Glen Burnie location, after many years of service. A life member of the Howard Turner American Legion Post # 276 where he is now serving as First Vice Commander. He is also a past State Commander as well as past Commander of the Howard Turner Post. He served his country proud as a member of the Air Force during the Vietnam war. He attends the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Odenton. In addition to his parents Philip was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Sue who died in June of this year. He is survived by his son Philip Jr. and his wife Jennifer and a grandchild Zoe .Also survived by a brother, Richard Surprenant and a sister, Gladys Ryan. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hardesty Funeral Home P.A. 851 Annapolis Road Gambrills, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday October 20th Interment Maryland Veteran's Cemetery ,Crownsville, MD.
