Peter F. Wodatch
MERIDEN - Peter F. Wodatch, 54, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. Peter was born on Sept. 22, 1962, the son of Kathryn M. Wodatch and the late Robert V. Wodatch. He graduated from Platt High School in 1980 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut in 1984. He earned his teaching certificate through the Connecticut Alternate Route to Certification Program. Peter touched many lives as a science, forensics, and life skills teacher at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven and the Meriden Adult Education Program. Prior to his teaching career, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Meriden as a mail carrier. He was a longtime coach and mentor for the Tri-Town Special Olympic Teams and volunteered at the John J. Nerden Regional Training Center Camp. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Sophia Grace Wodatch; his siblings, Lynne Patry and husband, Ron, Bill Wodatch and Lisa Forte, Tom Wodatch and wife, Tracy, Dan Wodatch, and Trish Wodatch and Steve O'Donnell; his nieces and nephews, Jill and Tim Patry, Heather and Tom Ewen, Sally and Gabe Tipton, Amy and Kenny Derrickson, Rebecca and Minnie Wodatch, Jeff, Kevin, and John Wodatch, and Dmitri O'Donnell; and his great-nieces and -nephews, Joshua Rodriguez, Elias and Emilia Tipton, and William Ewen. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Wodatch, Raymond Wodatch, and John and Susan Wodatch, and Michael Mancano. He will be sorely missed by his good friend and cousin, Lori Soltesz. Peter leaves behind many fond memories with his longtime friends, cousins, students, and special buddies. He was predeceased by his "Pop", Bob Wodatch; and aunt, Rosalie Wodatch. Peter loved spending time with his princess, Sophia "Grace" and her many friends. He loved all things with his family, especially vacationing at Hawk's Nest Beach, gardening, or just driving in Dad's truck. Peter was always willing to lend a hand and offer encouraging words with a smile. His signature sense of humor helped lighten the load of many a friend, student, or special buddy. The Wodatch family wishes to extend their personal gratitude to Peter's Wilbur Cross family, a family Peter truly loved. Family and friends may call at St. Joseph Church on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private.
