Perry Echelbarger, age 54, died unexpectedly in an accident on Sunday, October 9, 2016, on Camano Island, Washington. Perry is survived by his wife, Laura, of 26 years and daughter, Elissa and son, Noah. He is also survived by his mother, Nancy, and his step-father, Bob Winter and Laura's parents, Beatrice and step-father, Leroy Dahl; also two sisters, Jeanette Eldevik and Cherie Echelbarger, several brothers and sisters in-law, along with nieces and nephews. Perry was preceded in death by his father, Larry Echelbarger. Perry was a dedicated husband and father who always put his family first. He loved fishing and boating on Lake Goodwin where he grew up, watching the Seahawks, and serving others. He enjoyed heading up the living nativity for our Stanwood/Camano Island community each Christmas. Perry's mission in life was to serve and lead others to Christ. He was an active and dedicated member of the Cedarhome Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and served as an elder there for many years. "Well done, good and faithful servant". Matthew 25:23 Perry was born on June 13, 1962, at St. Cabrini Hospital in Seattle, Washington to Larry and Nancy Echelbarger. He grew up in Burien, Wash., until the age of 12 when his family relocated to Stanwood. He attended two years at Lakewood Junior High and four years at Stanwood High School. Perry graduated in 1980, and went on to Walla Walla College from 1981-1983 where he received an associate's degree in Automotive Technology. After he graduated he worked for Chevron for a few years and then opened a business with his father - Lynnwood Exxon. Perry was an accomplished auto mechanic/business owner most of his career until he recently became a sales representative for NAPA Auto Parts. A Memorial/Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at the Cedarhome Seventh-day Adventist Church, 28505 68th Ave NW. Stanwood, WA 98292. There will be a reception following at the same location for all to celebrate his life. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers any contributions can be sent to Cedarhome SDA Church/Nativity Fund.
