WILLIAMSBURG - Peggy June Holcomb, age 79, passed away on March 31, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on October 3, 1937 in Rock Island, IL to Russell Clair Holcomb and Sarah Fannie James Stalnaker Holcomb, both of whom died before she became a teenager. Peggy lived with her grandparents and worked her way through Augustana College in Rock Island, receiving a business degree there in 1959. Her first job out of college was for the FBI in Washington, DC, where she met and married Fred Brinkley. The family then transferred to Toledo, Ohio, where Peggy lived until 2007. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Johannsen (Julius) of Perrysburg, OH and two sons: Paul Brinkley (Myrna) of Williamsburg, VA and David Brinkley (Diane) of Troutville, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Victoria Taylor (Zack), Jordan Brinkley, Lauren Hoover (JT), and Benjamin Brinkley. Peggy used her business acumen to work for several different companies, including Avon, Playtex, and Weekenders, as well as starting her own business (Total Home Care) which she ran for more than 25 years. Peggy also loved music, sang with the Suburban Singers in Perrysburg, and competed in ballroom dancing. Peggy was a long-time member of Park Congregational Church in Toledo. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 near Roanoke VA.
