Paul T. West
DURHAM - Paul T. West died suddenly at his home in Durham, on Tuesday evening, October 11, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Marie (Wade) West, daughter Deborah Stacey (Lebanon, Maine), son Steve and daughter-in-law Sandy West (Saratoga County, NY), five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Paul grew up in Watertown and Belmont Massachusetts with his parents Eric and Sonja West and brother Don. From a young age he dreamt of being a pilot and was commissioned into the Air Force upon graduating from Boston University in 1960. His assignments over the years included responsibility for New Hampshire Civil Air Patrol and the ROTC program at UNH. Paul retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and decorated veteran in 1981 after serving two tours and flying countless missions in Vietnam. He went on to have a second career of over 20 years with Moore Business Equipment in Dover. Paul was an active volunteer in the community, including coaching youth hockey, overseeing Oyster River Youth Association, leading the local scouting chapter, and serving various roles at the Community Church. Most importantly, he cherished time with family and was incredibly proud of his children, grand-children and great grand-children, who likewise adored their "Bumpa". SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, October 15, 2016, followed by a 2:30 p.m., service at the Community Church in Durham, 17 Main Street.
