Paul A. Pastore
Paul A. Pastore, age 86, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, on October 21, 1930, a son of the late Carmen and Marie (Amendola) Pastore. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a demolition expert stationed in Washington, D.C. during the Korean War and achieved the rank of sergeant. Paul was a National AAU weightlifting champion in the early 1950s and was an alternate for the 1952 Olympic Games. Paul and his brothers founded Pastore Builders in 1954, a company that has existed for over 60 years. He served as a past president of the Builders Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania and had served on the board at Hamot Hospital. Paul had a love of music and sang in the Erie Philharmonic Choir as a tenor. He and his wife Dolores were very active in local foreign exchange student programs. Paul enjoyed helping his fellow man and his philanthropy was well known. He touched many people both locally and abroad. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Carl and Anthony Pastore, Edith Fagan, Geraldine Savilla and Alvina Schauble. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dolores (Costay) Pastore, his children, Jennifer Euliano of Tampa, Fla., Dr. Timothy Pastore, wife Debbie of Williamsport, Pa. and Thomas Pastore of Erie, and eight grandchildren, Jessica and Vincent Euliano, Erica, Maria, Paul, Michael, Anthony and Ashley Pastore. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Michali, a brother, Donald Pastore, wife Mickey, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. located at St. Patrick Church, 130 East 4th Street. Private burial is at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
