Paul Edward Jay Engel Naples, FL Paul Edward Jay Engel, 78 of Naples, FL passed away on January 6, 2017 at home in the presence of his loving family. Paul was born January 23, 1938 to Leona and Walter Engel on a farm in Stewartville, MN. He graduated from Stewartville High School in 1956 and received a scholarship from GM to attend the University of Minnesota where he achieved a BA in Political Science. He married Diane Helen Smith on October 17, 1959 while eloping to The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. Paul began a 33-year career with Mobil Oil Corporation as a trainee in Minneapolis advancing to Executive Vice President Europe at the time he retired in 1994. He moved his family twelve times during his career including the States of MN, WI, SD, MO, TN, CT, PA, NJ, VA and retired in FL after several years living abroad in Belgravia, London, England. Throughout his career, Paul was known as a straight-shooting people person that started work before dawn ending with many fun late nights while traveling the entire U.S. and many countries internationally. Paul's passions were fishing and hunting, traveling the world with family and friends and rooting for the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Gophers and his son's Tennessee Volunteers while enjoying a Miller Lite beer. After retirement, Paul volunteered at The Lions Club at Lake of The Woods, VA and supported North Naples Church at Grace Place and School Pantry for the Avalon and Parkside Elementary Schools in Naples, FL. Paul was passionate on helping high achieving financially strained high school students from his hometown achieve their educational dreams by establishing the Stewartville Leona Engel Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of his mother. Paul is survived by his wife Diane (Naples, FL), son Greg and Eileen Engel (Spring, TX), son Tom and Beth Engel (Parkton, MD), daughter Cheryl Engel (Leesburg, VA), grandchildren Elaina Engel, Julianna Engel, step-grandchildren Colleen Herr, Karyn Schwartz, step-great-grandchild Taylor Herr, sisters Marcella Polkowski and Janice Wellik and Bentley his cocker spaniel. Paul predeceased by Sisters Pauline Csercsevits and Margaret Hodge plus seven cocker spaniels. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life memorial service and reception for Paul at North Naples Church, 6000 Goodlette Road N., Naples FL on Thursday January 12, 2017 at 1:00pm.
