Patrick J. Murphy
Patrick J. "Joe" Murphy of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, passed surrounded by his loving family October 11, 2016, after a long illness, at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of Linda M. (Arenda) Murphy; and father of the late Joseph P. Murphy; devoted brother of Philip Murphy of Walpole, Mary Romey of Calif., Bernadette Burke and Patricia Molloy both of Braintree, Veronica Wright of Quincy and the late Margaret McGrail. Also survived by 25 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and one great great-niece. Joe was born in Boston, grew up in Dorchester and had lived in Braintree for the past 60 years. He was retired from Jordan Marsh/ Macys Department Store where he had worked for almost 40 years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba and Las Vegas. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight crew member, during the Korean War. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
