In memory of
Schneider, Patricia 1/27/1926 - 9/29/2016 Raleigh, NC Patricia Adene (Gleason) Schneider departed this life on September 29, 2016. Born January 27, 1926 to Ernest and Mabel (David) Gleason in Saline, MI, she spent her formative years with her nine brothers and sisters on several farms in Washtenaw County. Pat graduated from Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in 1948 with a teaching degree (English/History/Geography). Her first formal teaching position was in Monroe, MI where, in 1949, she made the incredible salary of $2,800/year. Prior to that, Pat taught at the tender age of 17 in a one room school house on Macon Road (Saline) and told many stories of building her own fire in the wood stove to keep her students warm. Pat moved to Illinois in 1950 where she raised her four children before returning to Michigan in 1968 to begin teaching in the Clinton Community School District. Her love of literature and teaching was evident by her passion and commitment in the classroom. Pat loved deeply her children, grandchildren and family, church, playing cribbage, gardening, reading, and walking in the country where she mapped out the wild asparagus patches. She will be remembered for her patience, spiritual faith, incredible sense of humor, and love of history and nature. Pat was preceded in death by one son, Lon, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by one brother (Oren), one brother-in-law (Bob Cook), her three children (Pete, Darcy, and Lance), seven grandchildren (Casey, Aaron, Corinne, Kelsey, Dylan, Gleason and Ansley), one great grandson (Rylan) and a host of nieces and nephews. Per Pat's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life is being planned for May 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Saline, MI. Donations in Pat's name may be made to Clinton United Church of Christ or the VFW. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost
