In memory of
Patricia Dawn McLoughlin
ST. MICHAELS - Patricia Dawn McLoughlin, born April 12, 1933, to Edward J. and Kathleen L. Galvin in New Haven, Conn. Pat was raised in Connecticut and Rhode Island. She died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, on their favorite beach in Key West, Fla. Pat met her future husband and best friend, James McLoughlin, a young Naval officer, at the University of Rhode Island. They have been inseparable ever since. As a Navy wife, Pat thought nothing of picking up her two daughters and moving, even for only a few months, to be close to her friend, especially when his ships were in Mediterranean ports. She encouraged the other Navy wives to join her and led them on some pretty memorable and fabulous journeys. When Jim left the Navy for a career with Texaco, they continued their globe-trotting lifestyle with home base in London. At the drop of a hat, bags were packed and off they went. They never stopped traveling. Pat and Jim discovered St. Micheals many years ago while sailing the Chesapeake and decided it was the place for them. They enjoyed living there and made many wonderful friends. Pat was bright, successful in business, a consummate hostess, an outstanding, classically trained chef, very competitive at the bridge table, an award-winning water colorist and, without question, a very true friend. She loved Jim, her friend, above all else, and they had a wonderful life together full of love and adventure. Pat was a best friend and extraordinary mother to her two daughters, a fun-loving grandmother and pal to her furry friend, Guinness. Jim, her best friend, died Oct. 18, 2016. She leaves behind her daughter, Dawn; daughter, Erin, husband, Sam, and their children, Alexander, Lily and Chloe of Mercer Island, Wash.; Jim's sister, Ann McLoughlin Lindsay Neeley and family of California; as well as best friend, Bea; cousin, Vera; and families in Connecticut. A funeral mass will take place Saturday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Missionary Church in St. Michaels, Md. Rather than flowers, kindly make a donation, if you like, to the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Company or Talbot County EMS in St. Michaels. It would be greatly appreciated.
