Patricia Anne Donahoe Eskew MOREHEAD CITY - Patricia Anne Donahoe Eskew, born in Washington, D.C. on February 16, 1933, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on April 3, 2017. She grew up in the greater D.C. area and graduated from Falls Church High School. After her children were grown she graduated from Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC). Pat also lived in Potomac, MD; Birmingham MI; and finally settled in Charlotte, NC for 40 years. Five years ago she moved to Morehead City, NC. Career-wise, she was most proud of the time she spent working at the Pentagon with "Top Secret Clearance". Having reentered the workforce after twenty years as a stay-at-home mom, she set an example for her children by returning to school and pursuing her career interests. She enjoyed her time in Customer Relations with Digital Equipment Corporation, taking early retirement in 1992. Later endeavors included working at CPCC, attaining the coveted "gold jacket" as a Century 21 real estate broker, and working at an antique store in Waxhaw. In her youth she enjoyed sketching and dancing. She loved spending time with her friends, some of whom she had for well over 50 years. Pat had a witty sense of humor and was known to open her heart and home to many of her children's friends, many of whom still keep in touch and consider her family as their second family. Pat actively contributed to her passions and interests including volunteering to support the democratic election process, AARP, Parents Without Partners, Friends of Fort Macon, writing and editing newsletters for her organizations. She loved speaking about her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments and without fail acknowledged birthdays and other special occasions with a thoughtful card or gift. Pat was preceded in death by her grandson, Joey Kennedy. She is survived by her sister, Conni Swanson, LaPine, OR; her children Rob (Carol), Charlotte, NC; Cathy (Guy), Olympia, WA; Sandy (Criss), Augusta, GA; Jackie (Suzy), Charlotte, NC; Tom(Jennifer), Durango, CO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and extensive extended family of beloved cousins, and nephews. A memorial service for family and friends will be celebrated at St Gabriel's Catholic Church Chapel in Charlotte, NC on April 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
