Oliver Thomas Carver Lived in Chelmsford, MA, decorated WWll Vet; 92 NASHUA, NH -- Oliver Thomas Carver, 92 passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8th, at Nashua Crossings Senior Living with Freda, his wife of 66 years at his side. He was born on July 14, 1924 in Charleston, WV and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and proudly received the Legion of Honor Medal from France for his service. After the war, Tom earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University and began working for RCA. Tom and Freda lived in West Virginia, Buzzards Bay, Japan, Virginia and New Jersey before settling in Chelmsford in 1962 where they lived until his retirement in 1986. They moved into a house they built in Cotuit on Cape Cod in 1986 and enjoyed 20 truly golden years of good health, travel, and a wide circle of friends. He enjoyed reading, painting, sailing and attending yard sales but was passionately devoted to his wife and family, proudly attending sporting events and sharing time with his children and grandchildren. Tom was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell, the First Baptist Church in Hyannis, and the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack. In addition to his beloved wife, Freda, he is survived by a son, John Carver and wife, Jane of Pepperell; two sons-in-law, James Dillon of Merrimack and Gary Dillon of Tyngsborough; one sister, Helen Jean Beaver; three grandchildren, David Dillon, Harry Carver and James Carver. He was predeceased by two daughters, Judith Dillon and Jennifer Dillon. The Carver family would like to thank those involved in his care during his final days, Compassionate Care Hospice and the staff at Nashua Crossings.
