Olive G. Goddall
Olive G. Goodall Schenectady - Olive G. (nee: Goulden) Goodall, 90, of Schenectady passed away on October 14, 2016. Born in Southampton, England on May 3, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Lily (nee: Clothier) Goulden. She was raised and educated in England. She became a war bride to Joseph Goodall, marrying in England on July 2, 1945. She immigrated to the United States in 1946, settling in New York City for two years. They moved to Beacon, NY and in 1957 they made Schenectady their home. Olive worked as a secretary for General Electric Co. for many years retiring in 1986. Olive was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady and was part of the church's Rosary Society. Olive was a member of Bishop Gibbons Mother's Club and a member of the Rotterdam Senior Citizens. On September 18, 2000, Olive was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Goodall. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Joseph Goulden and a sister, Dorothy Gorse. Olive is survived by her children, David (Sally) Goodall of Albany, NY, Steven (Amanda) Goodall of Atlanta, GA and Maureen (Joseph) Mazzone of Guilderland, NY; a sister, Betty Terrell of Southampton, England; 3 sisters-in-law, Dolly Goulden of Southampton, England, Margaret Goodall of Fishkill, NY and Sarah Goodall of Geneseo, NY; her brother-in-law, John (Mary) Goodall of Beacon, NY; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark Abrams) Goodall, John (Sue) Goodall, Emily (John) McKenna, Joseph (Courtney) Mazzone, Dana Mazzone, Olivia (Caleb) Bagby and Nina Goodall; 12 great-grandchildren, Maximus and Sadie Powers, Augustus Abrams, Judah and Asha Goodall, Clare, Madeline, Alice and Patrick McKenna and Nathan, Finnegan and Kenneally Mazzone; many nieces, nephews and a longtime special friend, Jean Chartrand. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Kingsway Arms for the care provided to Olive, especially Posh and Melissa. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday with prayers at 10 am at the funeral home prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am to be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St. Schenectady. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer, Niskayuna, NY.
